Yoga and meditation

Yoga is for everyone. Whether you are young or old, new to the mat or experienced, yoga has the power to calm the mind and strengthen the body.

Four paths of yoga

Discover the combination of physical and mental practice that has guided practitioners for thousands of years.
  • A practitioner in a supported backbend using yoga blocks

    Iyengar yoga

Focuses on posture, body alignment and opening of the body, using props such as blocks and belts to refine each pose.

  • A practitioner curled into a knees-to-chest pose on a mat outdoors

    Hatha yoga

Restores the balance of the body, working on the harmony between the chakras and energy points.

  • A young monk with palms joined in prayer

    Bhakti yoga

From bhaj — to worship or love God. The path of devotion that unites the soul, atman, with Brahman, the true reality.

  • A practitioner in a seated forward fold beside a river

    Ashtanga yoga

A direct offshoot of sage Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras; the name comes from the Sanskrit for eight — the eight limbs of yoga.

Meditation

Meditation is the exercise of the mind

Just as we exercise to keep the body fit and healthy, meditation is the exercise of the mind.

Meditation does not necessarily stop thoughts. It develops awareness, so that thoughts can arise and pass without continuously carrying your attention with them.

Mother Lap Meditation draws on the feeling of being held in a mother’s lap — finding a secure and nurturing space within yourself.

Try it now

A mindful minute

Breathe with the circle: in as it grows, out as it settles. Six slow breaths make one minute — enough to notice the difference between the noise of the mind and the quiet of the moment.

Sit comfortably. Let your shoulders drop.
